Imagine you are in a group of strangers and you are asked to solve a very simple question. Look at the picture on the left. The assignment from the teacher is simple: you have to indicate which bar in the right square matches the one in the left square. The teacher is asking random people, all pointing towards A. After 6 people, that unanimously state the same, he turns to yo:’ Well, can you point out the right match?’. What will you do? Trust your awesome brain or go for the for the answer that not even an ape would pick? Despite thinking you would trust your own mental capacity, a lot of people will go with the obvious wrong answer. Solomon Asch showed this multiple times in his world famous experiments. The question is why would we? Welcome to the shitty world of conformity.

Sorry guys this will be a short blog, again. I beg you for forgiveness because I am trying to cram 26 credits into one block, while a normal study load consists of no more than 12-13 credits. So besides lacking sleep I also lack the time to write the in-depth blog I originally had in mind. However I managed to dig up some tips for college students.

Buying a new laptop or pc to replace the shitty one you spilled beer on should be an improvement to your life. It should be harder, better, faster and stronger than your previous one. However, before you can profit the full potential of it, you often have to download a bunch of extra features. And microsoft or Apple wouldn’t be the same if they wouldn’t charge you for it (big time). Thank god some nerdy people did not have enough money or had an actual moral sense to comply to these monopoly practices and decided to build software that is accessible to every single person; so called open-source software. These applications are as safe as the expensive ‘normal’ ones, often require less practice and are thus as easy to use as their pricey bro’s. Here’s a list of the best free software you can get as a student or young professional.

Luckily he has self-knowledge because he starts his rampage on the slutiness and stupidity of the female gender, his own idiotic behavior and the successful life that is the direct consequence of it, with literally stating that he is an asshole. He drinks excessively, fucks around like a rabbit and leads a rock ‘n roll life only a few people on this planet lead and it all works out perfectly for him. So why on earth should he change? Who can blame him? It happens too often that the chick utters ‘let’s just stay friends because I don’t want to lose the special relationship we have (barf)’ to the nice guy and totally devours the person that just spend 3 hours making a fool out of her in a way you only see in hardcore porn movies. But is there any scientific support for the urban myth that bad guys get the girl and good guys can give it another go with their dominant hand?

One of the best ways to spread news is via the internet. Everybody (that lives in a democracy) can access everything they wish via the click of a mouse. I am part of one of the biggest student organization in Europe and our main mission is to improve student mobility in general (and to party while we are at it). A main focus lies on making sure that people get to know each other, our cultures and our way of thinking. This all should (according to the European Commission) lead to a focus on and improvement of European citizenship. But how can you improve something that does not exist?
